The Narrative Session → Period of Reflection → Conceptualization → Realization
Visual Biography is a rigorous conceptual framework in portraiture, deconstructing the monolithic notion of identity through a deliberate, process-based methodology.
The work begins with the deep narrative: an extensive interview capturing the subject's living history, psychological landscape, and the weight of memory. This narrative is then carefully analyzed and left to resonate, forming the sole foundation for the subsequent visual conception. The portrait idea is fully developed from this story, before the photographic encounter.
The resulting diptych materializes this process. The first panel visualizes the subtext—the core of the narrated biography. The second panel reveals the manifest form: the curated, conceptual portrait, realized in collaboration with the subject. The artwork exists not in the individual frames, but in the charged space between them—a curated tension born from this unique genesis, prompting a forensic examination of essence through narrative.
This series operates within the tradition of photographic typologies and sequential portraiture, rejecting the singular, spontaneous image in favor of a complex, conceptually pre-mediated biography.
